SkillsLinc advantage
We work with organisations to develop a matrix where a person
can enter as a junior technician, intern or apprentice, and develop
their career path to where they want to be. We bridge the gap between
traditional schooling, diplomas and degrees, where young people are
frequently not presented with a meaningful career path to let them
choose the training that will allow them to grow and flourish.
Often organisations miss out on talented people who perhaps
enter the workforce through the trade, and perhaps rise to a supervisory
position, but could become valuable managers with the right training.
Training facilities
SkillsLinc has training facilities in Durban, Cape Town and
Johannesburg where we can work with up to fifteen individuals per facility.
If required we can do larger groups in an auditorium facility.
We facilitate full “blended learning” processes, where we
make use of the latest techniques in training, using lecturer-led, computer-based
and audio-visual components, along with our interactive Internet-based
testing and delivery portals.
Instructors
SkillsLinc has a group of highly qualified in-house trainers,
certified to deliver all the relevant courses that we offer.
Where necessary, our partnership with Torque IT, combining
the use of their facilities and certified trainers for specialised courses,
extends our service delivery platform substantially.
Course material
Our coursework is selected from organisations around the
world to provide the best available learning material – relevant,
up to date, comprehensive and results-oriented. Most of our technical
coursework is CompTIA approved, the Computing Technology Industry Association,
a recognised leader in technical training. We have also developed coursework
internally that meets the needs of our market, but aligned with CompTIA
outcomes to ensure that learners can benefit from the best of both
worlds.
Our course material for business professional topics is based
on the Certified Business Professional (CBP) curriculum from IBTA (US-based
International Business Training Association), a world leader in skills
development for management. We also source topic material from UK-based
GTS Learning.
We have also formed a partnership with the Business Studies
Unit of the Durban University of Technology to provide management training,
initially following the CBP stream, but expanding into the University’s
framework to allow students to advance towards a diploma or degree in
management.
Costs and Time
SkillsLinc can tailor courses to provide lower-end training,
and then extend it to the high end for high aptitude individuals. We
will always be cost-competitive with our peers in the industry, but
bringing more value at every step.
Our courses are generally provided as full-time modules,
as this has proven to be the most time- and cost-efficient way to train.
Courses range from five days to three months. If there is a specific
requirement for part-time courses, we can structure these to meet your
needs.
More Value
SkillsLinc provides, through its partnership with CompTIA,
access to IT Pro, the leading association representing those working
in the information and communications technology industry. Supported
by leading organisations in the global IT industry, IT Pro is a community
for IT professionals, offering comprehensive access, advice, benefits
and discounts to members.
IT Pro provides valuable resources for people to improve
their career options – job vacancies, salary scales, skills that
are in demand and trend reports – all of them local to South Africa.
It is also a resource to stay up to date with developments in the IT
industry, and new products and services being released.
IT Pro membership provides recognition from colleagues and
peers, with participation in industry communities, mentoring and peer-to-peer
support. It provides discounts on industry events, products and services,
along with career advice and technical tools.
